Oh! How Precious the Death!

Psalm 116:12-15

"Life with the Lord is very beautiful! You have a vain life, hollow, without hope. The Lord is waiting for you!"

These were the words of Rocio Pino spoken to a female guerilla of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia (FARC) in 2011.

On the evening of March 6 that same year, Rocio and her husband James had already gone to bed when two men knocked at their door. The men asked for help fixing their motorcycle. James went outside to help with the repairs and as he was walking away he heard the men ask his wife "Is you name Maria?" "No!" she responded, "I am Rocio Pina!" Suddenly James heard three gun shots and turned to see his wife fall to the ground. James instinctively tackled the gunman but after a brief struggle, the attackers jumped on the motorcycle and sped away. James turned toward his home and saw his wife lying on the ground and his two daughters, grief stricken, standing over her. With the roads to his home heavily mined and guarded by (FARC) guerillas, James’ calls for help went unanswered. James and his daughters could do nothing as they watched Rocio die by the front door of their home. James knew the murderers. They had come two weeks earlier to the community introducing themselves as members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia. They had stopped by James’ home as many of the guerillas in the area were accustomed to do. Rocio had shared the Gospel with them, having said often as James recalled, "All who come here will hear about Christ!" Shortly after Rocio’s death, it was learned that the attack that took her life likely resulted from the simple appeal that led this blog post

"Life with the Lord is very beautiful! You have a vain life, hollow, without hope. The Lord is waiting for you!"

Oh the offense of the Gospel!

So glorious the message! So hopeful the promise!

So Courageous the partakers!

So Precious the sacrifice!

So Great the Savior!

Psalm 116:12-15

"What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me? I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord. I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people."

"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints."
